Graduated with honours in Economics and Business (University of Venice) and Law (University of Parma), he holds a Ph.D. in Tax Law (University �La Sapienza�, Rome).
He is full professor of Tax Law at the University of Trieste, where he teaches at the Departments of Law and Economics.
He takes part as a speaker in numerous conferences and conventions and has been member of study commissions established at the Ministry of Finance. He was member of the Tax Commission of the Italian Accounting Organization, responsible for the tax area of the Centro Studi Fondazione U.N.G.D.C., and one of the experts of the Commission�s Rules of Conduct of the Association of Chartered Accountants in Milan.
He is member of the scientific, direction and editorial committees for the magazines Diritto e Pratica Tributaria, Corriere Tributario, Bollettino Tributario, Economia e Societ� Regionale, Giurisprudenza delle Imposte, as well as external referee for the journals Rivista di Diritto Tributario, Rivista Trimestrale di Diritto Tributario and Rassegna Tributaria. From 2004 to 2015 he edited the Dialoghi Tributari magazine together with Raffaello Lupi.
He has published many monographs (Inizio e cessazione dell�impresa nel diritto tributario, L�autotutela dell�Amministrazione finanziaria, Donazioni e liberalit� indirette nel tributo successorio), professional and school books (Fiscalit� d�impresa e reati tributari, La fiscalit� delle operazioni straordinarie d�impresa, Il diritto tributario nei rapporti internazionali), and more than 500 articles, notes and papers on tax journals.
Among his most recent publications are the following books: �La giustificazione sociale dell�imposta� (2014) and �Dalla crisi dell�Irpef alla Flat tax� (2016), publishing house �Il Mulino�.
He collaborates with national newspapers (Il Foglio, Il Fatto Quotidiano, Il Sole 24 Ore), economic websites (lavoce.info, stradeonline, giustiziafiscale.com, etc.) and radio broadcasts, as well as runs his own blog (dariostevanato.blogspot. it).
For 30 years he has been performing tailored tax counselling services, he is lawyer in front of the Highest Court of Appeal (Corte di Cassazione), Chartered Accountant and Legal Auditor.
